Don't forget, we have eBooks!

If you have a green Roanoke Public Library card, all you need is to know your password/pin for that card and you can check out eBooks or downloadable audio books.  The Roanoke Public Library is part of the eIndiana Digital Consortium.  The Consortium consists of over 30 libraries in Indiana that all purchase and share their eBooks and downloadable audio books. Because of this joint effort of numerous libraries around the state of Indiana, many different ebooks in many different genres are available for checkout. Each user can check out up to 3 titles at a time for a period of 7 or 14 days.  You can even put a hold on an eBook that is not currently available.  Residents of the Town of Roanoke can receive their “free” library card anytime the library is open by bringing in their driver’s license or a utility bill with their current address.  Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian with a driver’s license or utility bill with their current address. Non-residents of the Town of Roanoke may purchase a card for $48 a year.  Remember you must live within the Town of Roanoke’s limits and not just have a Roanoke address to receive the “free” card per state law.  For more information, contact the library at 260-672-2989 or director@roanoke.lib.in.us or stop in at 126 N. eReader/eBook Program at the Andrews Library

Celia took her collection of eReaders to the Andrews-Dallas Township Library and held a "petting zoo" for the patrons and visitors there on December 7th..  A reference librarian from Huntington Library came and did a program on downloading eBooks on to the different devices using the Overdrive system which Andrews and Roanoke just implemented on November 30th. This event was enjoyed by all.  Celia is planning on holding a similar program on downloading eBooks to different devises in the new year so be watching for that date if you get a new devise for Christmas or are having troubles with a device you may already have to use.

eBooks have arrived!!

The Roanoke Public Library started today offering eBooks. They are available for download for 7 or 14 days.  You must have a Roanoke Public Library green Evergreen Libray Card and have your pin set up to be able to freely download up to 3 eBooks.  To get started click on the above picture on the Library's web site at http://www.roanoke.lib.in.us/.  Instructions and How-to-Guides are on our website at Roanoke Public Library , at eIndiana Digital Consortium-Overdrive or available in the Library.

eReader "Petting Zoo" Fair

On Saturday, November 12th from 2-4 pm, the Roanoke Public Library will be hosting an eReader Fair in the Roanoke Town Hall. The public is invited to come see, touch and experience a variety of eReaders. The Roanoke Public Library will begin offering eBooks for check out starting November 30th so if you have not yet purchased an eReader and want to see which is best for you or are just curious about eReaders, this is your chance. The eReaders available for this petting zoo type fair are Apple iPad2; Apple iPod Nano, 3rd generation; Apple iPod Touch, 4th generation; Barnes & Noble Nook; Cruz Reader; enTourage Pocket eDGe; Kobo eReader; Literati Reader; Pandigital Novel; Sony Reader Touch Edition; NextBook Next2 and Amazon Kindle.
