Thanks to a
generous donation from the Roanoke Lions Club, the Roanoke Public Library is
able to bring professional authors here so you can discover the writer in you .
These are interactive sessions where the professional writers tell you what
motivates them, insights they have learned and tips for the writing journey. If you've ever dreamed of writing, or desire to take your craft to the next level,
this is the enCOURAGEment you need. PeggySue Wells, a local Roanoke
author, held the November writing
workshops at 7:00 pm on Thursday November 26th talking about Short Stories and
Magazine Article : Write for Fun and Profit.
The Writing Workshops are held on the 3rd Thursday of each month for 90
minutes in the Program Room at the Roanoke Public Library. Debbie Wilson, a Christy Award winning
author, will be hosting the December workshop.
The topic will be Novels: Three essentials for a page-turning
story. January is Fantasy and Science
Fiction: the most read genre with Nathan Marchand, another local author. February is Crime Writing with Margarite St.
John (Johnine Brown) another local author.
March is Children's, Tweens and Young Adult Books: Writing like Seuss is harder than it looks ; April is
Screenwriting: Craft the Visual Story and May is Travel Writing : Make you
Vacation Pay for itself.
