The Roanoke Public Library had its end of summer reading
program “Book in Hand Hollow” party on Tuesday, July 30th at
10:00. Prize were awarded as follows: Best Attendance AM Group-Calvin
Warner who won a ribbon and the book “A big guy took my ball!” by Mo Willems
and Hudson Warner who won a ribbon and the book “Owl at home” by Arnold Lobel;
Best Attendance PM Group—Alivia Bradbury who won a ribbon and the activity book
“I can draw it myself”, Lola Fairchild who won a ribbon and the book “Timothy
goes to school” by Rosemary Wells, and Simon Fairchild who won a ribbon and a
crosswords activity book; Top Reader ages 2-3—Calvin Warner who read 70 books
won a ribbon, Rabbit beanie toy and “Once Upon a Forest” DVD; Top Reader Ages
4-5—Hudson Warner who read 142 book won a ribbon, Squirrel beanie toy and “The
Secret of NIMH” DVD; Top Reader ages 6-7 --Celeste Ackley who read 70 books won
a ribbon, Raccoon beanie toy and 2 “Magic School Bus” DVDs; Top Reader ages
8-9—Renee Peterson read 92 books won a ribbon, Raccoon beanie toy and “Yogi
Bear” DVD; and Top Reader ages 10-12—Alayna Stroup who read 88 books won a
ribbon, Raccoon beanie toy and “Open Season” DVD. Prizes were made possible by
a generous donation from the Roanoke Lions. At the party the children played
games, visited and talked with special guest, Johnny from the TinCaps and
enjoyed snacks. A fun time was enjoyed by all.
